Sugar Beet Beetroot Seeds

A Polish heirloom variety that has been grown for its sweet roots since the 18th century.

These roots can grow to an impressive 1-2kg, and while both the leaves and roots can be eaten as you would with other beetroot varieties, this variety is most commonly grown as a cane sugar substitute thanks to a sugar content of almost 20%.

Hint: For best results, soak the seeds overnight before planting out.

Interesting fact: Did you know 20-25% of the worlds sugar comes from Sugar Beets!!  Australia is one of the few countries that does not grow sugar beets as a standard commercial crop.
